make mistakes

Today was going to be fail and a philosophical piece on the meaning of success and failure. Concluding that both are relative not absolute concepts. But my word for the day was play which led me to National Rubber Eraser day.

I quote “Tablets of rubber (or wax) were used to erase lead or charcoal marks from paper before there were rubber erasers. Another option for the eraser was crustless bread. A Tokyo student said: “Bread erasers were used in place of rubber erasers, and so they would give them to us with no restriction on amount. So we thought nothing of taking these and eating a firm part to at least slightly satisfy our hunger.”

Nonsense perhaps but knowing one can easily erase a mistake has a positive benefit enabling you to try new things knowing you can start afresh. Tempered of course by still not being careless as mistakes can be costly on many different levels which is why we are trained to avoid them. As ever balance and wisdom and a pinch of good luck are called for. Today no eraser, no corrections what you see is what you get.

Have a good day
