make salt dough

Today’s choice inspired by a good friend. Chance to be creative and as a bonus get to nostalgically remember good times messing around with the boys when they were small. To start here’s the recipe for salt dough, simple store cupboard staples. What you choose to make is the special ingredient.

1 cup salt
2 cups of plain flour
1 cup of water

Mix flour, salt, flour and half the water in a large bowl. Gradually add the remaining water and knead till a firm dough. Add more flour if it feels sticky, then knead for another 10 mins. Set aside for half an hour in an airtight container to ‘rest’. After that roll out on baking parchment.

Now time to get creative!
Remember to make a hole or add a metal hook if you want to hang your work of art up.

When finished can let air dry or bake in oven at Mark 1 for 2- 6hours. The amount of time needed to bake will depends on the size and thickness of the salt dough creations.
